AHHHH

Okay....So we have been working like crazy on the drywall.  WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE ARE DOING!!!

I know NEVER say NEVER but I can almost promise you that I WILL never be doing drywall again.  It is the worst experience I have had thus far, but I'm sure I will say that about something else later on down the road.  If anyone is thinking about doing drywall yourself...save the hassle, bad back. and tears (on my part) and pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you.

Enough about that...hopefully our reinforcement will be coming tomorrow to save the day.  Once all of the mud is up on the wall we will then start the task of sanding.  THEN PAINT!!!!!

Sorry no pictures, it was just frowning faces....no one wants to see that right?!?!

Blood, Sweat, and Family

Well finally I can say we have drywall up!!!!  It amazes me how much removing the paneling and replacing it with drywall brightens up the space.

As the saying goes many hands make a light load, we had many hands this week.  Jacob's family came by this week to give a hand/food/photography (we can't thank them enough!)  Plus my dad who is my full time electrician/plumber/anything else I happen to beg to need help with.

I hope you enjoy the photos...hopefully I will be able to post more of the laundry room and the rest of the house.  After this hurdle of drywall the rest will be down hill I hope.  Actually, it will be the fun stuff!!  Slowly but surely, we are going to get it all done.

Hard at work!

Brother love!

My future sister-in-laws!!!!

This requires arm strength...which I lack....

Look closely, a rusted staple got my thumb, but I think a up-to-date tetanus shot and make shift bandage I will live!

Our wonderful crew!!! Thanks again guys!

Hurray!!!!

Rewind...

Okay...Rewind a few days.  Before Christmas, we were too excited, the drywall was delivered!!!!!  I know most people who come by can't see all of the sweat and hard work that we have done, but we are actually quite amazed at what we have got been able to do in less than a month.  I guess watching DIY and HGTV for the past three years straight have paid off.  Plus having handy people in our families also helps.

Here are a few fun photos.....

Oh the decisions to be made...this is my favorite part..

Hey what about hot pink and lime green...Totally just kidding...

On a side note....If you notice in the first photo, we recieved our first house plant.  Our seller, was so sweet and sent me a peace lilly for Christmas and to congratulate me on the house.

On a side side note the wedding planning is moving full steam ahead.....I don't really know why we must do so many things at one time, but it will all be worth it.

Progress....

Well all the paneling is gone except for the wainscot that we are going to keep and paint.  The wallpaper in the hall bathroom is almost down.  HURRAY!!!!

We have no lights in the living room and hallway, my dad came by and cut the power so we can pull out the lights when patching the drywall.  Which I forgot to remind Jacob and we worked by flashlights last night.  OOPS!  As I say everytime...Slowly but surly we will get it done.

The plan for next week is to get drywall up and ready for paint by the end of the week.  However, we hope to have reinforment :)  Many hands make a light load!!!!

Here are a few progress pictures...

Paneling

No Paneling (Notice the pipes are back in the wall I did that...well with a little help from my dad)

Paneling

GONE!!!! NEVER TO RETURN!!!

Hopefully we will have pictures of drywall next week!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS if I do not get to post before then....

Goodbye Popcorn Forever

Say it is not so...YES we are finally rid of all popcorn ceilings in the house.  Now the fun can begin with patching, sanding, and painting.

I have already started spreading my color fan deck trying to figure out what color we are going to paint this house.  I think I scared Jacob a little with all of the fan decks that I have.  He is trying to rein me in.  The desinger is starting to come out.  However, I am realizing that it is much eaiser to pick out color schemes for clients than yourself.  I will probably have several test jars of paint before making my final decision.  Good thing we have a little time to decide.

Next on the list is wood paneling.  We have to get it OUT of the living room before Christmas.  Posting pictures soon!

Demo full blown

Demolition has completely began.  We have the laundry room guted down to the studs ready for drywall.  The living room will be next along with we are STILL scrapping down popcorn ceilings.  I have a feeling that this Christmas break will not be much of a break!

Slowly but surely we will get there.....

Stay tuned...hopefully I will have progress pictures soon!

And let the journey begin

Well it is official.  We bought the house.  All blue bathtub and shag carpet glory.  It was one of those mixed emotion feelings of "Do I throw up or jump for joy?"

As soon as we had the keys we were ready for demolition.

Wallpaper (check)
Fake Panel Soffit (check)

I will add pictures soon.

PS I am going to try to get this as up to date as possible but as you all know a 9-5 + 5-9 House Remodel+ Wedding Planning is alot to joggle.
