Are you sitting down?!?

Well brace yourselves.....Here is the first before and after (up to a certain point).  As promised, we have our laundry room done, except painting color (which I think I have convinced everyone on the green color).

Hope you are as amazed as we are.....Sweat Equity at it's finest!!!!

Wood Panel Fever

It continues...

Scary, but progress...

look past me, that is the laundry room with drywall before sanding

TA DA!!!!!

! Breaking News!

We have progress.  It appears that we are over this bump in the road with the ceilings.  If all goes well we will be re-priming the ceiling in the kitchen tonight.  The cabinets have been primed, sanded and ready for their first coat of paint tonight.  Hurray!  The laundry room has been primed ceiling to floor and ready for it's coat of color paint! HURRAY!  We are making progress.....I hope it stays at this pace.

Here is a sneak peak at the cabinets....

Lookin Good!

I told Mom she would make the blog...not sure she will appreciate this picture! :)
I am gathering pictures to do a complete before and after of the laundry room to this point stay tuned!

Weekend Follow up...

Okay So after this weekend's paint crisis...there is good news!  We primed all the cabinets and wood wainscot in the kitchen! HURRAY!  We primed the laundry room! HURRAY!  Now we have to paint the cabinets there lovely dove white color and the kitchen.  We are still waiting to hear back from the paint company to figure out how to remedy these issues!

Just maybe we can catch back up to our schedule.  We have both said we are tired of learning lessons and renovation realities and ready for smooth sailing!!!

Pictures soon I promise...I can't wait to blow your minds on the changes we are making! :)

REALLY?!?

I am not sure I have words for this.....just a frustration of screams......

I mean really can we catch a break....

Why do freak occurrences seem to be happening to us.....

Take a look at our ceilings....the paint went on great...then we noticed as it started to dry....it was cracking....
Not just any cracking...but that paint that has been on your front porch for like 100 years in the dead southern heat...yeah that kind cracking.  WEIRD huh?

Well according to the man at the paint company they have seen it happen before but not in the circumstances that we have, fresh, clean drywall.....  Oh well just another bump in the long road of renovation....  Hopefully our luck will change tomorrow....stay tuned....

Cleaning is good for the soul....

For you who know me all to well, I am sure you are shocked by this title!

For those of you who do not know me "all to well" I am a clean person, I just do not like to clean all that much...especially vacuuming!!  I am notorious for not vacuuming when told...like as a child I made the vacuum marks but didn't actually turn it on...or my first job that I am surprised I did not get fired from because I think I can honestly say I did not turn it on a single day of work.

Well there is a first time for everything.  I have been vacuuming and cleaning up a storm the past three days.  I told my mom that cleaning has been an outlet for my frustration with this remodel.  I have alot of frustration and alot of cleaning that needs to be done.  PERFECT PAIR.

The wave of cleaning is due to the fact that my friend is helping us with the cabinets this weekend.  I had a strict deadline to get these suckers clean.  So...they are clean and ready for paint.  Hopefully, I will be able to post a roll of pictures next week for your viewing pleasures to see the grand before and afters on the cabinets.

I may or may not be painting Monday...since you know it is the day of my birth!!! :)  The goal is to be done before Monday so we can celebrate this wonderful day! ( I hope you all know I am joking...I really am not this full of my self)

** Cleaning goal could not be completed without my wonderful mother!!**

Running out of steam....

Well we are beginning to run out of a little steam.  With all that we have going on, it is understandable I am sure.  We got our focus back last night.  We had a friend come over and get a game plan together for painting and helped us tackle the dust that we have EVERYWHERE! I hope to say by this weekend we will have paint going up in the kitchen and laundry room.  We have decided that we will take it one room at a time (it is not as overwhelming if you do it that way).

PS- If we haven't said it enough....we are greatly appreciative of all of the time/labor that our friends and family have been lending us, I am not sure that we would be this far along without it!

PSS- Thanks to all who have been planning away to shower us with love and goodies for the wedding, your work has not gone unnoticed either!!!!

Until next time....

Clarification

Upon my conversation with an architect at work...Our house is considered a "tri-level".  A spilt-level is a type of home that as soon as you enter the foyer you must make a decision upon which way you will go.  A tri-level is when there are three levels within the home.

For example in our house you can access the private rooms (ie. bedrooms and baths) by climbing 5 steps.  All public living spaces are on the first floor that you enter.  Then you can go down about eight steps to the basement.  So I apologize for calling our house something it was not.

On the remodel front....we are still trucking away, almost done sanding...FINALLY!!!
On the Wedding front....still trucking away.  We have both said, " I can't wait until we have a weekend with nothing to do or planned....only a few more months!!!!  However, I cannot complain on the wedding planning this weekend we are getting to taste cake!!

Until next time...

Remodels EVERYWHERE!!

Not only is the house getting a remodel...but as you can see I have played around with the look of the blog.  I am still learning how to navigate....

As far as the house goes....we took a much needed break last night.  Yet, when I say we took a break that means Jacob did (which he needed!! his shoulder can not take much more of this).

I however, have many other items on my to-do list.  Break from the house means kick in high gear for wedding planning/paying bills/catching up on laundry.....
I am really starting to get nervous about the wedding...only because it will be here in a blink of an eye.  I hope I have not over looked something.  I have a wonderful mother, sister, future aunts helping me out, so between all of us I think maybe it will go off without a hitch.  ( I know country slang coming out)

Sorry no news on the house, because I am sure that is all you are wanting to see....maybe this weekend I will be able to post more progress pictures!!!

Excuse me can you tell me where the star wars convention is...

We looked a bit ridiculous in our masks but it saved our lungs.  Oh the cleaning I will have to do....

Well we have the kitchen, dining, laundry, living rooms almost completed (just a few minor touch-ups).  We are very grateful for all of the help we are getting and offers.  We will be at a point soon that we can take people up on their offers to help.  The drywall has just been messy and long that we haven't really been able to do anything else.  I am just realizing that I have not taken any photos of my electrician/plumber/handyman or handy mom!  They fixed a trap door in the basement and got our dehumidifier ready to hook up, and brought cleaning supplies!  This is definitely a labor of love....

We will still have to sand the other part of the house but that can be done a little later.  We are trying to get the first floor done and then move up.

Turtle Time

Well there is not much I can report on this week really.  We have farmed out the mudding that is left, so we have not really worked much at the house ourselves.

Sometimes I feel like we are moving on Turtle Time.  We have come so far in the month we have had the house but we just expected too much out of ourselves.  We find it frustrating to not be where we THOUGHT we would/should be by now.   My Mom keeps reminding me that you have to give things time, I guess Rome wasn't built overnight right?!?  So...maybe our new year's resolution should be PATIENCE!

Once the mudding is done, our list goes a little something like this:

1. Sand...Sand...and more sanding
2. Clean...Clean and more cleaning
3. Prep, Paint, Finish cabinets
4. New Flooring
5. Hopefully all before the new appliances get delivered!

I have taken this time off of the house to hit wedding planning in high gear....That will be here before we know it!!!!!

Until next time...
